The lesson today was largely a repeat of last week's lesson with S and K. The main focus again was to use different phrases to disagree with someone else's opinion and phrases to elicit the opinions of others.
Key Functions
- asking other's for their opinion
- simple openings that add extra weight to your opinion e.g. personally, obviously, frankly etc.
- giving strong, neutral or tentative opinions
We will look at more diplomatic ways to express disagreement and make positive suggestions when we do the role play meeting simulations. For review please refer to the following sections -

Drinking as a way to reduce stress

We've looked at expressing opinions a little more strongly and also how to interrupt. We want to continue this but also want to look at how to use more diplomatic language and make positive suggestions. If you have time please review the following -
Diplomatic language to express criticism. (Page 36)
Making positive suggestions. (Page 37)
Everyone to think of one key statement and be prepared to dicuss it in class and defend their position strongly. Others will have to disagree.
